Steve is a native Virginian. He grew up Baptist, was baptized and confirmed in a Methodist Church and gave his life to Christ his sophomore year of high school through the ministry of Young Life. He graduated from the University of Virginia.
After college, he traveled throughout Europe. It was during these travels that he recommitted himself to Christ and sensed a call to ordained ministry. He went to India as a missionary to Westerners who were searching for something more in their lives. After India, Steve helped establish another ministry in Nepal and served in ministry in Amsterdam.
Steve attended Princeton Seminary and continued his theological training at Oxford University and did post-doctorate studies in Jerusalem. He served in the United Methodist denomination for nearly 40 years before making the switch to the Global Methodist Church.
He has been married to Cynthia for 37 years. They have two adult children, a daughter, Kate, and a son, Elliott, and 4 old dogs.
Steve last served under UM appointment as senior pastor of Asbury Church in Harrisonburg. Recently he has served as interim pastor for Port Republic Riverside Church, formerly Port Republic UMC.
