Tera Ertz
Virginia GMC Committee Member
I’m Tera Ertz. I currently live in Williamsburg with my husband, my adult daughter and two of our grandchildren. God blessed us with a home big enough to all live together as an extended family to provide community, stability and love for our grandkids and to invite others into our lives. We use this beautiful space to provide gatherings for our friends at work to help overcome the present crisis of isolation so many are suffering from, and to host a regular potluck and Bible study for folks at different places in their faith journey but with a desire to know more of Jesus.
I came to active faith late in life at Ball Ground UMC in Georgia where I finally surrendered to Jesus everything I had. I served there as laity for nearly 9 years on the newly forming worship team which opened the door to becoming a partner for our next pastor as the lay leader and lay delegate for our congregation. Somewhere along the way I was reading a book called Preaching for a Response and heard the Lord speak to me saying, "You're going to be a preacher not a pastor."
I have spent the years since following His invitation into that call. I have long seen God's hand moving in the preparation of the Global Methodist Church and have watched with great anticipation as He launched this new Wesleyan movement into the world. I cannot wait to step into this next phase of service as a deacon in the GMC and helping the Conference grow.
My passions are apologetics and discipleship, understanding and helping others understand what we believe, and why we believe it, and how to make those beliefs an embodied reality in our lives and churches. It is my deepest hope to come alongside the GMC churches of Virginia to help them discern their mission, giftings, and training needs to fulfill God's vision for their churches.
